Dixie vs Hurricane Football Rivalry
74 meetings · Strong
Dixie leads 53–20–1 — 74 meetings since 1950 on record. Hurricane's two deepest series are dead even in length — 74 games against Cedar and 74 against Dixie.
How it started
Hurricane's two deepest series are dead even in length — 74 games against Cedar and 74 against Dixie. The older series is Cedar's, but the heat is on Dixie: St. George News writes that Hurricane and Dixie "love to get after each other." Cedar's own marquee rivalry is with Dixie, which argues against Cedar treating Hurricane as its rivalry game.
The games that made it
Dixie scored 27 second-half points in Hurricane to win 41-35 in 2024. Hurricane won its only football state title in 2011.
Where it stands
Region 9, annual.
On the record
The series record above begins in 1950, which is as far back as the published game database reaches. These two were playing before that, so the figure is a floor rather than the whole series.
What we could not find
An article framing this specifically as Hurricane's rivalry game. The Spectrum's archive would settle it.
