Copper Hills vs West Jordan Football Rivalry
Dub-town rivals / the battle of the belt (name unconfirmed) · 29 meetings · Strong
West Jordan leads 27–2 — 29 meetings since 1995. A straight boundary split.
How it started
A straight boundary split. Copper Hills opened in 1995 and, in the West Jordan Journal's words, "its boundaries claimed many West Jordan students." Two high schools in one city, one carved out of the other.
The trophy
The West Jordan Journal records the game being labelled "Dub-town rivals, the battle of the belt and crosstown rivals." We found no second source and no photograph of an actual belt, so treat it as a local nickname rather than a verified traveling trophy.
The games that made it
As lopsided as any rivalry in the state: West Jordan leads 27-2, and Copper Hills' only wins include a 19-7 result in 2013. The two opened the 2025 season against each other on August 22.
Traditions
The Journal reports fans on both sides describe the teams as brothers rather than bitter opponents — unusual for a crosstown game.
Where it stands
Different classifications now (West Jordan 5A, Copper Hills 6A), so it is a non-region game.
On the record
A separately published figure has 1–24 (West Jordan Journal, 2021-10). The two figures are not blended.
What we could not find
Whether a physical belt exists.
