How it started
The two programs have met since 1950 and have played more often than any other pair in 1A. Deseret's 2024 championship story called that year's meeting the 99th in the history of the schools; the series has since passed 100. Deseret headlines the game as "rival Kanab." No trophy or named-game origin is documented.
The games that made it
Beaver won 17 of the 18 meetings through 2024, capped by beating Kanab for the 1A state title. Kanab turned it over in 2025, beating Beaver twice — the second a 24-13 win at Southern Utah University for the 1A championship, ending an 18-year title drought. Kanab's JR Quarnberg on Beaver: "They're such a tough team to beat. I don't know if anyone knows that like we do."
